Fans of EastEnders were astounded to see Keanu Taylor return to the square, and actor Danny Walters has hinted at the motivation behind the action.
The oldest son of the Taylor family, Keanu Taylor (played by Danny Walters), has always taken on the role of “man of the house” for his younger siblings. Two years ago, under dramatic circumstances, he left because he thought Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), who had a sexy affair with Sharon Watts, was going to kill him (Letitia Dean). Unbeknownst to the audience, Keanu’s tale in Walford was far from over.
Everyone has been working hard to make it a fitting tribute for Dot ever since the news first broke.
Unexpectedly, Keanu Taylor, Karen Taylor’s son, was spotted in the square at the end of the most recent episode for the first time in two years.
Although it might seem as though Keanu has just returned, there are a few valid reasons for this.
“Sharon’s a strong force, but he now has Peggy and Albie, and Keanu’s always been the man of the house in the Taylor household,” actor Danny Walters said in a press interview with Express.co.uk and other outlets.
“Since he has never had a father figure in his life, I’ve portrayed it as though he has always wanted to fill the role of his absent father.
When he falls into old habits, he tries to break them because he fears becoming like his father.
“I believe he had plenty of time to reflect and mature while he was in Portugal and away from the square. It came to the point where he had to decide for himself how his future would turn out, and there was only one option: return to the square and take the law into his own hands.”
Walters continued by saying that he wants to develop a relationship with Sharon, with whom he had a passionate love affair before leaving Walford.
“Sharon was always the reason that Keanu had a little bit of purpose and a little bit of drive,” he continued.
“There is something that he is drawn to, and there was a deep, deep attraction to Sharon that I guess even Keanu couldn’t explain if you asked him.
“And it’s reciprocated because Sharon has someone who loves her for who she is, not just because he’s younger, which is why that relationship works so well.
“So Keanu has returned to the square with the intentions to build a relationship with his son, have an impact on his son’s life, but also to rekindle his relationship with Sharon, which is perhaps a motive,” says a witness.
When Phil left for a business trip to Spain in 2018, Keanu and Sharon started a passionate relationship.
When he got back, their relationship ended, and Keanu started dating Louise Mitchell, Phil’s daughter (Tilly Keeper).
When their relationship began to unravel, Keanu and Sharon persisted in their love affair, which caused her to become pregnant and gave Phil the impression that the child was his.
At the same time, Louise was carrying Keanu’s child, and when Phil learned the truth, he lost it.
In an effort to avoid Phil’s wrath, he fled, but two years later, Keanu is back.
Chris Clenshaw, the executive producer, teased that the former mechanic had “unfinished business.”
He continued, “He returns and Phil isn’t in Walford right now, but Phil will be back soon.”
