Fans of EastEnders are aware that Jay Brown and Lola Pearce are at the center of a tragic storyline, and actor Jamie Borthwick has offered his opinion on the scenario.
On the BBC soap opera, Jay and Lola (played by Danielle Harold) are getting married after the former proposed on Christmas Day. The news that Lola has an incurable brain tumor came just a few weeks later, and the young couple is hoping to get married and cherish their time together. Jamie praised his EastEnders co-star Danielle for her “fantastic” portrayal of Lola and the difficult story. Hard-hitting soap opera stories can be taxing on actors.
The two characters can be seen having fun at their respective hen and stag dos in recent EastEnders scenes.
It appears that there might be a challenge to overcome on the big day, as with all soap opera weddings.
Jamie remained silent when asked about this but was glowing in his praise for Danielle.
The One Show host Jermaine Jenas said, “Lola was diagnosed with terminal cancer last year.
He then inquired: “How did the story’s followers respond? Because for many of the fans, it’s really close, isn’t it?”
Without a doubt, Jamie answered. “And I believe it has increased awareness of this; in my opinion, if you can help just one person or one family, that’s enough.
“It appears that this story is having a significant impact because more people are saying things like, “Oh, I can’t bear to watch Lola, seeing her…”
Danielle has been absolutely fantastic while we’ve been filming this stuff, I have to say.
The actor kept going: “Because the days are long and the work is very demanding…
“You know, crying every day as you go to work can wear on you.
“But she has been outstanding. So far, everything has been positive, touch wood.”
When asked if he remembered receiving the pivotal phone call when he first started the soap opera at the age of 12, Jamie reflected on his young age.
He answered, “Yeah, I do actually.” “I was in another store; it wasn’t Woolworths.
“I’m not sure what it was. My mother received the call, and we started dancing in the store.
However, I had no idea that I would still be there 16 years later. It’s crazy how things work out, but here we are.
Bradley Walsh, a different guest, was questioned about his relationships with other EastEnders actors.
He answered, “I do, yes. Perry Fenwick: “Shane [Richie] is an old friend of mine. I’ve known Shane for almost 40 years, and I’ve known him for 30 years.
I’ve known Brian [Conley] for 40 years, so you know,”
The Chase host continued by describing how Brian had met his wife for the first time.
Thus, host Lauren Laverne noted, “you’d have such a different life without team EastEnders.”
