In EastEnders, Jada Lennox has admitted to betraying Linda Carter.
After an unexpected social services check this week revealed open booze and a bruising on infant Annie’s elbow, Linda’s problems have gotten worse.
The scheme was the brainchild of Janine Butcher, who paid Jada to contact a social worker with the tip. This search led to the removal of Annie from Linda’s care so she could receive medical attention.
In the episode that aired on Tuesday, August 30, Linda was devastated to learn that Annie would be placed in foster care while social services looked into the cause of the bruise.
Although Janine forewarned Jada that there would be repercussions for accepting the bribe if she revealed the truth, Jada was overcome with guilt over what she had done.
Even after Sharon defended the teen in a heated exchange, Linda rapidly began to believe Jada was the one who had betrayed her.
Linda turned her suspicion on Janine, which sparked a fight in the barrel room during which Linda actually hit her adversary.
Even though Janine had officially called the social worker in by pressuring Jada to do the dirty work for her, she insisted still.
To Linda’s horror, Mick Carter agreed with Janine’s justification and supported her in her fight with his ex-wife. When it seemed like Linda was beyond saving, the truth at last surfaced.
Jada shocked Sharon with a startling confession after she was unable to bear the shame of splitting up Annie and Linda.
Jada apologized profusely to Sharon. “I did it. For Linda, I made a social services call.”
Before Jada could say anything else, Linda interrupted their talk and apologized for her earlier charge, shocking Sharon and Jada.
When Linda left the room, Sharon yelled at her angrily, “Have you any idea what you’ve done?” as Jada sobbed.
Is Jada able to put things right?
