In an exclusive interview with thesuns.info, EastEnders actress Heather Peace discussed whether or not she would return to Waterloo Road when it resumes its run in 2019.
Regarding whether she would reprise her previous role as Nikki Boston on the well-known BBC series Waterloo Road, Heather Peace, 47, finally spoke out. After winning Best Newcomer at the 2022 Inside Soap Awards last month, Heather, who is best known for playing Eve Unwin on EastEnders, spoke exclusively to thesuns.info.
Eve, a character on EastEnders, has started dating Suki, the matriarch of the Panesar family, who is portrayed by Balvinder Sopal.
When Suki informed Eve on Monday night that she would be giving her marriage another chance for the benefit of her children, Eve was devastated.
Eve told Suki, “You love me, I know you do,” but the conflicted mother sneered, calling their romance “a fantasy.”
Eve was devastated when Suki insisted, “I don’t really like you and that’s the truth. I used you to explore something and it left me cold.
Heather provided some insight regarding Eve’s character’s future after her heartbreak, including whether she would be playing an old character again in the upcoming school-based drama Waterloo Road.
Heather, who portrayed the teacher Nikki Boston on Waterloo Road from 2012 to 2014, expressed her delight that the well-liked series is coming back in the early months of 2023.
Heather paused before responding, “The show is amazing, and I think Waterloo Road now would be a very different Waterloo Road from then. ” when asked if she would ever return to the program.
“Because the kids today are dealing with so many different problems than we did back then, like social media and other things. Although it was present, it wasn’t as common as it is now.
There are a lot of family discussions that can be had while watching that show, she continued, and I wish them the best.
“However, I adore my current situation. Then again, my contract expires in January, so they might simply declare that they are done with me.
She continued, “So I don’t know, but I’m really, really happy where I am right now.”
And because Waterloo Road is an inspiration, I wish them the best.
On Waterloo Road, many educators and students perished tragically, but Nikki’s ended happily.
Her departure from the school and relocation to Berlin with her love interest Vix Spark were featured in her final episode (Kristin Atherton).
Since Nikki left the show because she is a member of the LGBT+ community, Heather acknowledged that this conclusion was made on her terms.
Heather made sure that Nikki’s time would not run out, whereas the ups and downs of dramas and soap operas mean that many actors never know when their character’s time will be up.
This was because of the unfortunate trope that frequently sees lesbian characters die tragic deaths in TV shows, books, and movies. Numerous well-known programs, including The 100, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, and Orange is the New Black, contain examples of the aforementioned trope.
In regards to Waterloo Road, Heather said, “They listened to me on that because it was a happy love story ending for my character.
Lesbians frequently meet a bad end, proportionately more frequently than any other, the actress admitted she had a similar agreement with EastEnders executives for her character Eve. I only said to the producers, “You want to get rid of me? They are also very talkative.
“I said, ‘You can get rid of me at any time, but I’m pleading with you right now: Don’t kill her off. Keep the lesbian alive. Let’s avoid that cliche. Let’s not leave it like that if it no longer suits you that I’m here and there are no more stories or whatever.
That was literally my only stipulation, and they’ve agreed, she happily added.
