After a week of shocking episodes in which Ryan Malloy attempted to trick his pregnant daughter Lily into moving in with him so that he and his wife Helen could raise her child, viewers of EastEnders are furious with him.
After learning the real reason behind Ryan Malloy’s return, furious EastEnders viewers attacked Neil McDermott’s character. After hearing about Lily Slater, 12,’s situation from his sister Whitney (Shona McGarty), the 12-year-estranged old’s father, he returned to Albert Square. Fans weren’t happy when he was seen on Wednesday night pleading with the young woman to move to Wakefield and live with him.
Ryan had previously spoken about his inability to have children with his wife Helen.
Later, he was over the phone discussing Lily moving in with them with his wife.
But after a heated argument with Lily’s mother Stacy, he declared he would pursue joint custody of their daughter, even though he hadn’t seen her in six.
When the bewildered teen overheard him, he then made the official offer to her.
Viewers took to Twitter in their droves to question his motives, calling him “manipulative”.
One fan wrote: “So Ryan wants Lily to come stay with him and his wife helen. (sic) It must be the grief of the two not being able to have children.”
Another said: “Ryan 100% wants lilys (sic) baby,” while a third took to the social media platform to say: “Ryan is dodgy.”
Another commentator didn’t hold back and said: “Ryan, you selfish manipulative little oik!”
Despite the concerns of the viewers, Lily appeared to be warming up to the notion and approving the action in Thursday night’s episode.
Unsurprisingly, Stacey was upset by the news, and she and Ryan got into a heated argument.
Finally, Ryan spat venom at the struggling mother and yelled, “It’s no wonder she got pregnant. You’ve fathered three children with three different men.
The upset teen, realizing his true colors, demanded, “How can you talk to my mother like that after all she’s done for us working every hour under the sun?
Even after she learned about the pregnancy, she has been the best mother anyone could hope for.
Ryan made an attempt to convince her, but to no avail as she admitted to having a change of heart.
If you believe I will still accompany you to Wakefield, you can do one, she told him.
As a parting shot to Stacey, Ryan said: “Let’s see how you feel when I cut down my child maintenance to a minimum.” But Ryan still had one last trick up his sleeve.
This only served to confirm how many viewers had felt about him.
One user tweeted: “Wants the best for #Lily but says he’s going to cut her child maintenance to the absolute minimum! Eastenders #Ryan #Stacey”
“Ryan revealed his true colors here with Stacey,” another person said. Cutting Lily’s child support just demonstrates how egotistical he is and how little he cares for either Lily or Stacey.
“I believe that Ryan only ever wanted Lily’s child because he was unable to conceive one of his own with Helen in Wakefield #Eastenders.”
While another said, “Ryan isn’t even sorry that he’s a deadbeat #Eastenders,” to sum it all up.”
