After Sunday’s dramatic Christmas episode of EastEnders, viewers were left wondering whether Linda Carter would be staying in the soap opera even though it appears that Mick Carter’s fate has already been decided.
In the Christmas Day episode of EastEnders, Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) and Linda (Kellie Bright) found themselves trapped in a car that had plunged off a cliff and into the water. Fans have long known that Mick (Danny Dyer) would leave the BBC soap opera at Christmas, and after the fan favorite from EastEnders dove into the water to save Linda, he disappeared.Linda will continue to appear in the soap opera, despite the fact that it appears Mick has died a tragic death, according to showrunner Chris Clenshaw.
Mick and Linda have established themselves as one of the most beloved couples in soap opera history, but a recent patch of marital strife has led to their separation and the appearance of the evil Janine.
After Janine learned she was pregnant, the two got married, but some revelations on Christmas Day caused Mick to finally understand how cunning his new wife was.
Nevertheless, after a brief reunion, the episode showed Mick and Linda pursuing a cunning Janine who was attempting to avoid the repercussions of her actions.
Mick wasted no time in jumping in to save the two after Janine’s attempt to flee resulted in her and Linda falling into the ocean’s depths.
After Linda urged Mick to assist Janine because of the unborn child, Mick freed her from the car while she was still trapped inside.
Linda managed to free herself and swim out of the icy water without Mick’s knowledge.
Unaware of this, Mick dove back in to save his ex-wife but did not surface again.
Since it was revealed that Mick would be written out of the soap opera, rumors about Linda leaving have been rampant.
Chris has made it clear that Linda will continue to be a recurring character on the soap opera, though.
“I’m thrilled that Kellie Bright is staying in Albert Square,” Chris said.
We have big plans for Linda, who has established herself as a matriarch of the present over the years.
“Linda’s still very much at the heart of Albert Square,” he continued, according to Metro.
Fans may find it difficult to visualize the Queen Vic landlord without Mick by her side.
Chris also said: “Linda will take some time to move past Mick.
It won’t be all smiles right away because she had just been reunited with him before he was taken away.
It was revealed earlier this year that Danny had made the decision to leave EastEnders after ten years on the soap opera.
Danny will leave EastEnders when his contract expires later this year, an EastEnders spokesperson told thesuns.nfo at the time.
“We will always be grateful to Danny for making Mick Carter a beloved character, but we won’t be saying goodbye just yet because Mick still has a long way to go in Walford and plenty of explosive drama to look forward to.
The actor is “incredibly grateful” to EastEnders for the opportunities the program gave him, according to a friend close to him.
“Danny loves EastEnders, but he feels that as an actor, the time is right to explore other roles,” they said.
He is incredibly appreciative of the show and the opportunities it has provided for him, and he didn’t make that choice lightly.
But he feels it’s time to give Mick a break after portraying him for almost nine years.
