Actress Balvinder Sopal wants her EastEnders character Suki Kaur Panesar to commit a murder during the holiday season.
Suki was one of six women who gathered for a ladies’ lock-in at the Queen Vic on Monday, February 20, 2023. However, the show took a turn when a flashback to Christmas 2023 showed a man dead on the floor of the Vic, with the circumstances of his bloody death still unknown.
Could the story be connected to the dramatic love triangle when Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) is still in a toxic marriage to the evil killer Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry)?
The actress Balvinder Sopal has talked about the significance of the plot for her complex character Suki Kaur Panesar and the potential suspects in the death of Sharon Watts.
EastEnders has never aired a flashforward scene before. How did you feel when you heard about the story?
We don’t know all the specifics, so I was both incredibly excited and a little bit perplexed, but I think that’s okay. To be included with icons like Sharon, Kathy, Linda, Denise, and Stacey Slater, I mean it’s just an honor and privilege to be a part of something that big, and I think that adds an element of suspense because you’re wondering “who is it going to be?” and “what’s going to happen?” Being included with them adds an additional element of thrill. So, yes, I was both humbled and incredibly excited.
How was it filming alongside Gillian, Letitia, Kellie, Lacey and Diane? Are you all excited to be in this together?
It’s an absolute honor and privilege to work with women who have been a part of the show for such a long time and who are strong, powerful, captivating, beautiful, and fiery women who carry the show. I mean, they are legends. And to be a part of that yourself is fantastic; it’s wonderful to be associated with such icons. I’m therefore eager to see how everything turns out.
The end of the episode ends in a classic whodunit – can you give us any clues on who you think has done it, and who you think meets their fate?
There are a lot of people. Since all six of the women involved have ulterior motives, I believe it could have been any one of them. Suki would be my preference because I believe it gives her an additional element of danger, but who knows?
Anyone could actually meet their fate in terms of who does. I believe that Keanu, Rocky, Nish, someone who hasn’t appeared on the show in a while, or someone new who joins, could all be candidates. And I believe that perhaps all the women are involved.
