In an interview with thesuns.info, Coronation Street actor Charlie de Melo discussed his thoughts on his former co-star Kym Marsh’s performance on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Kym Marsh, 46, a star of Strictly Come Dancing, came within two positions of losing last week but was saved by all four judges in the dance-off. At the 2022 Inside Soap Awards on Monday, Kym’s former Coronation Street co-star Charlie de Melo, 33, gave Express.co.uk his unvarnished opinion and called the soap actress a “force of nature.”
Former Hear’Say singer Kym received praise from Charlie, who is best known for playing Imran Habeeb on Corrie, for her dancing abilities.
“I saw her yesterday, and it was amazing! Absolutely fantastic,” the actor warmly affirmed.
Charlie’s response when asked if he thought Kym had a chance of winning the contest was, “Well, the standard is unbelievably high.
If I’m being completely honest, I don’t watch it very often, but yesterday I did watch the entire thing, and a lot of people…
“Hamza [Yassin], of whom I was previously unaware, was truly extraordinary.
Charlie added that Will Mellor, with whom he had previously worked on Corrie, was another celebrity to dazzle him with his moves.
Charlie observed, “Everyone is doing such a good job, usually there’s someone there and people turn their noses up and they snort and they laugh.
I love to see it because Kym is such a force of nature, he continued.
However, I believe it would be untrue of me to say… Because the competition she faces this year is unbelievable. I have no idea how it is in other years, but it feels incredibly high.
When asked if he had seen Tony Adams’ “Full Monty” dance, in which the legendary Arsenal player performed while completely undressed, Charlie replied that he had.
Yes, he admitted, “I watched that.” Keep in mind that the man was once an athlete, which suggests that there may be some soreness.
But I mean, he’s in his mid-fifties, and I’m half his age, and I can’t move like that! It is exceptional.
Before saying, “I haven’t really answered your question, but I thought that Kym was fantastic, basically,” Charlie praised all of the celebrities for performing their dances live on television in front of viewers across the nation.
In the dance-off last Sunday, Matt and his partner Nadiya Bychkova were eliminated after the Bros singer was deemed to be past his prime by all four judges.
They competed against Kym, a former Coronation Street actor, and Graziano Di Prima.
Kym and Graziano danced the Samba to Volare by the Gipsy Kings, while Matt and Nadiya performed a Jive to Paul McCartney’s All Shook Up.
On June 1, Charlie left Coronation Street after his character Imran had a fatal heart attack following a significant car accident.
Tonight at 8 p.m. on ITV, Coronation Street continues.
BBC One will air the return of Strictly Come Dancing tomorrow at 6.40 p.m.
