Tracy Brabin, a star of Coronation Street, announced that she had received an invitation to King Charles III’s coronation and was looking forward to representing West Yorkshire.
Tracy Brabin, a former cast member of Coronation Street, has stepped away from acting after being recently elected as West Yorkshire’s first mayor with 310,923 votes.
On Thursday, May 4, the newly elected official tweeted that she had received an invitation to King Charles III’s coronation.
She captioned a picture of herself clutching the invitation, “Special delivery this morning… What a privilege to be asked to represent #WestYorkshire at King Charles III and Camilla’s coronation. (sic)
Tracy gained notoriety for her role as Tricia Armstrong in Coronation Street prior to her burgeoning political career, and she is very different from the young ITV character.
When Tracy first joined the ITV soap opera in 1994, her son Jamie Armstrong (played by Joseph Gilgun), who was then Curly Watts’ (Kevin Kennedy’s) suspected stealing suspect at Bettabuy, brought her to Weatherfield.
In 1995, she quickly made a permanent transfer onto the street and settled into No. 1, which was then owned by Mike Baldwin (Johnny Briggs).
Prior to Mike hiring her as a machinist at Baldwin’s Sportswear, she spent much of her time on the street and receiving unemployment benefits.
After settling in, Tricia was instantly accused of having an affair with Jack Duckworth (William Tarney) by Vera Duckworth (Elizabeth Dawn).
Vera sympathized with her and attempted to reconcile Tricia and Curly after learning of the abuse she had endured at the hands of her previous husband, Carl Armstrong (Jim Millea).
In an effort to get out of her financial binds, Tricia offered to have sex with Mike in exchange for a rent break in 1996.
When she stopped paying for her TV license and received a week in jail term, things reached a breaking point.
Jamie was consequently placed in a foster home, but after becoming very unhappy there, he ran away and persuaded Deirdre Barlow (Anne Kirkbride) to let him stay at her apartment for the remainder of his mother’s visit.
Tricia’s financial issues after being released from prison got worse when the DSS discovered she was doing cleaning work for Mike and stopped paying her.
A drunk Tricia was escorted home by Terry Duckworth (Nigel Pivaro) after a wild night at the Rovers Return, where they engaged in sexual activity that led to Tricia becoming pregnant with Brad Armstrong (Caleb Flanagan).
Tricia later met decorator Ray Thorpe (Chris Walker), and in 1997 she made the decision to leave Coronation Street in order to begin a new life with her new family.
Tracy continued her career in soap operas by obtaining roles in Casualty, Emmerdale, Holby City, Doctors, and EastEnders as Roxy Drake.
