Harriet Bibby, who plays Summer Spellman on Coronation Street, has spoken out about what will happen to her character in upcoming episodes when the girl goes missing.
Summer (Harriet Bibby) of Coronation Street is now hiding a sinister secret from Esther (Vanessa Hehir) and Mike Hargrave (Tom Lorcan).
Esther and Mike were set to adopt a baby when Summer lost the child, but she hasn’t told them yet. According to official previews, the pair will forgive her debt if she tries for a second child, but is Summer placing herself in more risk by doing this?
This week, Summer and Aaron Sandford (James Craven) tell Esther and Mike they had miscarried the child.
The pair extends a lifeline to Summer, who is obviously heartbroken by the idea of not becoming a parent.
After some consideration, Esther and Mike offer to forgive Summer of the £10,000 she owes them in exchange for serving as their legal surrogate.
The offer plainly surprises Summer, but she considers accepting it out of sheer desperation that she might not be able to repay them.
When Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) learns about the couple’s request, he is determined to do whatever it takes to prevent Summer from going through with the surrogacy plan.
He tries to set the rules, but Mike reminds him that Summer makes the decision, not he does.
Upcoming scenes show Billy and Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) reporting Summer as missing to the police.
They are warned that if she is found, her location cannot be revealed without her consent after speaking with the officer and explaining that it is out of character for her.
When it comes to Esther and Mike and deciding whether to proceed with the surrogacy, Summer has a lot to consider.
Could they be holding Summer as a hostage inside their house as retaliation if she declined their request?
Since Esther and Mike joined the soap opera, many viewers have speculated about what they believe the couple’s true motivations are.
In a recent interview with thesuns.info, Summer star Harriet discussed some of the theories she has seen. She said: “Well, to be fair, I love reading the fan theories.
“Sometimes they are dead on, and other times it is such a wild thing that makes you think, “Wouldn’t it be cool” or similar?
Obviously, we are filming a little ahead of what everyone sees, so it’s nice to know what the fans might want to see or not want to see, so it’s really interesting.
Harriet hinted at many “twists and turns” when speaking about Esther and Mike’s impending arrival in Weatherfield and what viewers can anticipate from the couple.
Added her: “She hasn’t had the best year, and I don’t believe she is handling everything very well.
“I think Esther and Mike are going to take her for a bit of a ride, but we’ll see what happens,” said the father of another child.
In scenes that were broadcast on Monday, Mike scoffed at Summer and Aaron’s fabrication and threatened to call the police.
“Are you lying to me?” he demanded. Aaron said, “Mike you’ve got to understand how hard this has been,” before Summer flinched and said everything.
Mike began when Summer said she lost the baby before receiving the money: “You stole our cash, Having knowledge of the baby’s death? You defrauded us! You repulse me.”
Esther asked Summer to continue their surrogacy in a formal capacity, but does Mike have a perilous ulterior motive?
