Stephen Reid, a serial killer, is fighting tooth and nail to keep Carla Connor away from Underworld so he can take control.
The relationship between Stephen (Todd Boyce) and Carla (Alison King) isn’t the best because she embarrassed him once or twice in front of significant businessmen. Stephen recently bought some LSD, which he plans to use to spike her drinks, because he wants to be the top man and wants to show off his business prowess. According to confirmed Coronation Street spoilers, Stephen may try to convince Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) to do his dirty work if he is desperate to keep Carla away.
In upcoming scenes, Carla tells Chris Gascoyne’s Peter Barlow that she feels better and might go back to work.
Peter calls the factory to pick up some files for Carla and says she hopes to return in a few days. He questions why she should be coming back so soon.
Stephen calls Carla’s apartment with the file for her and, with her back turned, spikes her water with LSD in an effort to keep her out of the Underworld.
She again feels lightheaded and disoriented as the two begin to discuss the company and Stephen’s complaints about the employees.
Peter, who is worried about his wife, informs Stephen that he will call the doctor to find out more information about why she keeps having the spells.
Stephen tells Paula Wilcox’s Elaine Jones (who is enjoying running Underworld while Carla is away) that he can now afford to pay back her loan in full.
Elaine, anticipating receiving her money back, looks at a new apartment in Redbank.
Later, Stephen is shocked to discover Carla still in good health and nearly prepared to return to work despite his most recent dose in her beverage.
Will Stephen be able to win Sarah over to his cause when he asks her to persuade Carla that her mental health is still too precarious for her to go back to work?
Recent disagreements between Sarah and Carla included Sarah leaving the factory to start her own fashion business.
Could Sarah believe what her uncle has been telling her about Carla if Sarah is still holding a grudge against Carla for wrecking her business?
But Sarah might get suspicious and decide to keep an eye on Stephen because of his persistent desire to free Carla from Underworld.
Ian McLeod, a writer for Coronation Street, recently spoke on a Loose Women panel about Stephen’s future.
“From viewers, they want to know is evil Stephen the killer going to get his comeuppance,” said Denise Welch.
Ian clarified: “I mean, it’s a soap, of course he is! The bad guys always end up getting punished, don’t they?
“a hundred percent The time between now and then promises to be very entertaining, as we can already tell this week that he is beginning a new feud with one of our most well-liked characters, the feisty female Carla.
“So he is going to go head to head with her for a while which I think I am going to really enjoy so there is a little way to go yet.
“He is going to get up to more mischeive to put it mildly but yeah, in the end all bad guys meet their fate. They have too.”
During Monday’s episode, Stephen was tasked to seal a deal with businessman man Rufus, but Carla gave him a stern warning.
“Word of warning Stephen. Don’t take me on. I’m telling ya you don’t want to make an enemy out of me,” she expressed.
To which Stephen responded: “I wouldn’t dream of it. But thanks for the advice.”
