Alex Bain, a star of Coronation Street, looked unrecognizable while seen out to lunch with his fiance.
The actor, who is best known for his role as Simon Barlow in the ITV soap opera, appeared entirely different from the persona he plays while out for lunch in Chester. While enjoying some belated birthday celebrations for the actor, the 21-year-old displayed the stubble in an Instagram story he shared, which was posted by model and dancer fiancée Mollie Lockwood.
The actor’s fiancee captioned the picture of him beaming, “Late birthday celebrations for @alexbainofficial.”
I Love You! and two heart emojis were Alex’s response when he reposted the story to his account.
He had undergone a complete transformation from the young character he portrays on ITV to his mature self.
He was still sporting his distinctive curly hair, though, as he sipped coffee and ate smoked salmon toast in a nearby cafe.
After keeping it a secret for a year, the young couple last month announced their engagement.
The actor revealed in an interview with OK! Magazine that he proposed in October of last year.
I’m a big believer in moving forward as soon as you know it’s the right person, and I’ve known Mollie is my person pretty much since the day we met, Alex told the publication.
Mollie explained why they chose to keep their engagement a secret: “We wanted to enjoy that special time together, just the two of us.”
The couple has been together since 2019 after meeting while attending the same performing arts college.
When deciding to pop the question, Alex said, “I can’t spend my life with anyone else.”
Since Alex first appeared on the soap in 2008, fans have enjoyed seeing their favorite character, Simon, develop over time.
While on a romantic getaway to Spain with Mollie earlier this year, the actor took a well-earned break from the role.
In 2018, the Corrie actor welcomed daughter Lydia-Rose into the world.
Together with his ex-girlfriend Levi Selby, who was 16 at the time, the then-17-year-old welcomed their first child.
He recently turned 21 and is eager to start preparing for his wedding with his future wife.
The couple hasn’t held back from publicly displaying their love for one another, posting a number of cuddly photos on social media and leaving adoring comments like, “I adore you so much” and “You’re my everything.”
