As her current role on Coronation Street comes to an end, actress Gabrielle Glaister says she would love to next join EastEnders.
On the ITV soap opera, Glaister portrays Fern Lindon, who found a striking resemblance to neighborhood resident Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove). While Fern initially made a deal with Bernie to capitalize on their similarity, she soon came up with a scheme to accuse Bernie of stealing.
This week’s episode of Coronation Street features Bernie trying to find Fern in an effort to show her innocence after being arrested and facing a prison sentence. Unfortunately, Bernie is abducted while trying to catch shady Fern!
Even so, it appears that Fern will be leaving our screens soon, and the actress who plays her has been thinking about where she might next be seen.
Glaister admits, “I have no idea [what I’m going to do next].” Someone needs to give me a job because I’m suffering from empty nest syndrome now that my son has left for college.
She continued to think about this while speaking to TV Times, adding: “Both TV and soap operas are things I adore. I’ve watched Family Affairs, Emmerdale, Corrie, and Brookside, but I haven’t seen EastEnders yet; I’d certainly give it some thought.”
Between 1990 and 1997, the star portrayed Patricia Farnham in Brookside. She has also appeared in Doctors and Casualty. Could Glaister eventually be seen in the East End to finish her BBC soap opera set? Given how much she talks about how much she loves her job, it is obvious that she would seize the chance.
She says, “I just love working, even though it sounds boring. After she and co-star Hazlegrove were frequently confused for one another, Glaister elaborated on how her role in Corrie came to be.
We had a great time filming it, despite the fact that it was a bit of a gamble.
Glaister continues, “Hazlegrove”: “We’d already had a quick encounter. but now we’re close friends.”
