Damon Hay, the villain from Coronation Street, is expected to wreak more havoc in Weatherfield as the drug lord develops a new romance.
Jacob Hay (Jack James Ryan), the son of Damon (Ciaran Griffiths), had to leave his house because his girlfriend Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvany) was in danger due to his sudden arrival in Weatherfield. Iain McLeod, the head of Coronation Street, has hinted at the bad boy’s impending romance and revealed that another family is in danger.
Through his new position at the Bistro, Damon was applying pressure to his son to assist with the importation of drugs behind Nick Tilsley’s (Ben Price) and Leanne Battersby’s (Jane Danson) back.
The young person had made attempts to change his life, but when he told Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) what was going on, he vowed to leave forever.
After Amy’s life was in danger, he left the show, leaving her heartbroken.
In recent scenes, Damon had been adamant about making the Bistro famous and had advised Nick that they needed to come up with fresh concepts to grow the company.
Leanne agreed with the plan, but Nick was hesitant because he didn’t know who he was doing business with.
When Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) revealed that a friend of his in Ibiza is aware that Damon is a well-known drug dealer and a violent man, his worry increased.
Nick said he wouldn’t let it happen because he was worried the bistro might be used to sell drugs, but Damon was adamant it was not up to him to decide.
He explained that if Nick didn’t keep quiet, Leanne would soon learn where the money for the bistro came from, and she wouldn’t like learning that Nick had sold his soul to Harvey.
Now that Jacob has cleared the way, Damon plans to develop a crush on a strange but well-liked Weatherfield resident and cause havoc in their life.
Iain said in a statement to Express.co.uk and other media: “As the year goes on, there’s something about a bad boy isn’t there?
“I think it’s fair to say that he has a kind of magnetic attraction for a prominent, high-profile female character in the show, who ultimately has her head turned in a way that has very serious repercussions.
“I’m currently working on storylines for June, and the story involving Damon and this love story that will air in June has a buildup and then a colossal explosion.
“So yeah, I’m really looking forward to Ciaran appearing on the show. He simply exudes this sense of danger throughout his performance, much like the character.
The other day, he was capable of switching on a dime from a charming, affable, businessman with a penchant for young people to a terrifying shark with dead eyes.
Simply put, it’s fascinating material. We are therefore very happy to have him.”
Who will be duped by Damon’s seductive charms, and how far will they go to defend him?
Although he is currently incarcerated, Damon’s brother Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) may also make another shocking comeback, according to fan speculation.
Iain acknowledged that he would “love” to see a confrontation between the two brothers who are “blood enemies” after being presented with these theories.
In reference to Will’s time on Strictly Come Dancing, he said: “Harvey, you know, I don’t think his status as a legendary hard man has been too diminished by putting on a sparkly shirt on a Saturday night.”
“It’s obviously challenging when fictional characters are detained that we can revisit at some point in the future.
“When they are actually somewhere else, how do you incorporate their influence into your show? But in the past, we’ve overcome challenges that were more challenging.
“I’d love to think that someday, we can take Harvey off the streets and put him in a room with Damon, who, by the time Harvey were to get out, would be absolute blood enemies with Harvey.”
