Daisy Midgeley of Coronation Street is being tormented by Justin Rutherford, who is adamant that they should be together.
When Justin (Andrew Still) impersonated her fiance to crash her trip to a wedding fair and confessed he was looking forward to the day they could be together, Daisy (played by Charlotte Jordan) realized the extent of Justin’s obsession with her. Official ITV and Coronation Street spoilers indicate that Daisy will be the target of a terrifying acid attack as the situation worsens.
Daisy has dedicated herself to organizing her wedding to fiancé Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) and obtaining free items thanks to her social media influence.
But as soon as she threatens to obtain a restraining order against him, Justin’s intentions turn nefarious.
Prior to her wedding, Daisy will soon be subjected to Justin’s corrosive liquid attack, which will leave her heartbroken and devastated.
Women’s Aid, which works with model and TV presenter Katie Piper, who was the victim of an acid attack by her ex-boyfriend, has praised the story’s hard-hitting theme.
According to a soap industry insider, Justin’s obsession with Daisy will intensify over the coming weeks until he confronts her in the Rovers and throws acid at her.
“The scene is absolutely horrifying and will astound viewers.
“Bosses thought it was important to bring up the subject, but great care has been taken to handle it delicately.
They have been collaborating with several research partners who have contributed their skills.
Women’s Aid’s head of media Teresa Parker added: “Coronation Street are always very thorough in their research in violence against women storylines.
“We were happy to speak to the researchers. Storylines like this raise important awareness of issues like stalking and the danger it presents.”
Charlotte Jordan recently opened up about the storyline with Daisy and Justin and admitted that she is saddened by the effect Justin is having on Daisy.
She told Express.co.uk and other press: “Even though she has got Daniel and Jenny [Connor] saying come off of social media, she has been fighting it because she thinks that’s not fair.
“She has been attempting to hold onto her identity and the things she wants, but in this episode, she gives in and decides to take a small step back.
Daniel manages her social media accounts so she won’t have to constantly deal with his messages, but he does something that upsets her because she worked so hard to plan their wonderful wedding.
“Her nerves are already frayed from Justin, so when Daniel messes up her social media, it pushes her over the edge and causes her to spiral into psychosis, which is really sad.
She feels like no one is listening to her, and the police aren’t doing anything to help, so her stress levels have already risen. When she sees Justin holding flowers, all she can see is red and storms off to get some fresh air.
She decides to take matters into her own hands because she feels so alone and because no one is willing to understand or offer assistance.
