Coronation Street icon Carla Connor has recently been drugged by villain Stephen Reid with LSD to copy the symptoms of her past psychotic episode.
Concerned for his wife’s well-being, Peter Barlow (played by Chris Gascoyne) recently suggested that Carla (Alison King) take a few days off work after being involved in an incident with Paul Foreman (Peter Ash). Official Coronation Street spoilers reveal that Paul struggles with his recovery and decides to sue Carla for the damage she has done to his health and lifestyle.
Carla was unknowingly high on LSD when the incident happened because Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) tampered with her drinks.
In order to get Carla to panic and race to the meeting, Stephen pretended that Carla had canceled a crucial meeting with one of their major clients.
Carla made the decision to board Underworld’s delivery van after Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) refused to let her drive her car, which had been parked in the garage for a MOT.
Her vision blurred as she sped down the cobblestones, causing her to crash into Paul as he was attempting to ride Peter’s new motorcycle.
Ed, Peter, and others helped Paul up after he was run over by the bike as Carla exited the van feeling bad for what she had done.
Paul is itching to get back to work in the yard in upcoming scenes, but Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) asks him to take it easy for the time being.
Paul’s concern grows when he struggles to tie his bootlaces after ignoring his struggle to pick up the darts and his glass.
Paul chooses to use his left hand to cut down some panels so as not to alert Ed and risk being sent home from work.
When Ed notices Paul narrowly avoiding the spinning blade of the saw while using his non-dominant hand, he quickly sends Paul home.
Back at home, Paul tells Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) that the problems with his grip are because he was sent home from work and hasn’t felt well since the accident.
Paul, who is feeling bad about being sent home, tells Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) that he won’t be able to pay her gas bill because he will lose out on money.
Ed suffers yet another setback when he regrettably informs Paul that he can’t bring him back to the yard without the doctor’s okay.
Billy and Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown), worried for his welfare and considering the incident, persuade Paul to file a lawsuit against Carla for negligence.
Paul’s hand may take up to 12 weeks to heal, according to Dr. Gaddas (Christine Mackie), and Gemma advises him to sue Carla for lost wages.
Realizing Carla lacked the necessary insurance to operate the van, Peter offers Paul £15k in compensation in exchange for dropping the claim against Carla.
Paul initially agrees, but on Dee-advice, Dee’s he returns the £15k and says he must wait until he has received a complete diagnosis.
Paul gives a wad of cash to Chesney Brown (Sam Ashton), explaining that he borrowed the money because he wanted to help them and that he will be able to repay it as soon as his compensation is received.
Will Paul sue Carla for how much money?
Paul might sue Carla for much more than the £15,000 that Peter initially proposed if his diagnosis turns out to be worse than he anticipated.
Could this be the event that permanently shutters Carla and Underworld, rendering many Weatherfield residents jobless?
