Since Fern Lindon impersonated Bernie Winter from Coronation Street and robbed a jewelry store, Bernie Winter has run into some trouble with the law.
When Bernie Winter (played by Jane Hazelgrove) first met Fern, she couldn’t believe her eyes (Gabrielle Glaister). They not only got along like a house on fire, but they also shared a striking resemblance. They could even pass as one another without anyone noticing. Bernie was recently detained by the police for a crime she did not commit, and it appears that things will only get worse.
According to ITV’s official spoilers, Bernie suggests throwing a party for Fern’s ex-husband Howard (Gordon Peaston) and Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) to celebrate the fictitious lottery win.
After framing Fern, she then uses a ruse to post the images online in an effort to capture her.
Howard, Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell), Paul (Peter Ash), and Bernie throw a party for lottery winners in the bistro.
Then Howard calls No. 5 and lets them know that Fern has gotten in touch and wants to meet up with him in the Freshco parking lot.
A van pulls up as Bernie waits for the bus, and a man jumps out to grab her and throw a bag over her head before shoving her into the back of the vehicle.
Bernie screams, but how much danger does she really face, and besides Howard, who else was aware of her presence?
When Howard later calls No. 5, Gemma’s ears perk up when he mentions the cost of Fern’s stolen jewelry.
Is Gemma right when she claims that only the thief would be aware of the value of the loot?
Could Howard and Fern, his ex-wife, be working together to bring Bernie to justice and divide the proceeds from the jewelry?
In earlier scenes, Bernie accidentally ran into Howard while faking Fern at the country club.
Bernie acts quickly after receiving a letter containing the time and date of her plea hearing.
Bernie attempts to trick the receptionist into giving him Fern’s home address after dressing as Fern, but to no avail.
However, when a club member approaches her, Bernie’s strategy goes awry.
After Bernie pretends to be Fern Lindon, Howard shockingly reveals to Bernie that he is Fern’s ex-husband.
She continues by telling Howard that Fern had set her up for a robbery.
Bernie’s suspicions that Fern is a con artist are confirmed by Howard. Bernie implores him to assist her.
Bernie, however, might have trusted the wrong person.
Bernie insisted to the police that it wasn’t her in the CCTV when questioned about the theft of the jewelry.
A frustrated Bernie responded, “I’ve never worked in a jewelry shop, I don’t know what you’re talking about.
“Dear, you can show me whatever you like. I’ll admit that I worked this morning, came home in the afternoon, and then went out to the pub.
That’s not me, Bernie insisted as the video began to play.
Before Bernie objected, the officer said, “It definitely looks like you. It’s my doppelganger.
