Viewers of Coronation Street think that after his daughter Bridget Woodrow admitted to killing Charlie Walter, Stu Carpenter will be granted custody of his 11-year-old granddaughter.
Fans of the ITV soap opera observed as Stu (Bill Fellows) struggled to accept Bridget’s (Beth Vyse) recent confession during Monday night’s episode. He discovered that his daughter and her mother had set him up for Charlie’s death after serving 27 years in prison for a murder he did not commit. What will happen to his young granddaughter has left viewers wondering after they were both taken in for questioning.
After Speed Daal chef Stu was released from prison, Coronation Street residents welcomed him back over the past few months.
Although he insisted he had nothing to do with Charlie Walter’s death, the former homeless man was jailed for her murder.
After all this time, Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King), Zeedan (Qasim Akhtar), and Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) set out to prove his innocence and found that he had been forced into a confession.
To his ex-chagrin, wife’s since coming out, he has been able to spend some much-needed time with his daughter Bridget and finally meet his granddaughter Eliza.
The sweet moment between the two of them when he finally got close to the 11-year-old proved to be too much for his daughter to handle.
Guilt-ridden, Bridget confessed to her father that she had been the one to murder her father’s business partner all those years prior, with her mother aiding in the cover-up and framing of Stu.
The situation worsens despite his admission that he wouldn’t call the police because he didn’t want to damage his new relationship with his granddaughter.
Later, Bridget was questioned because fresh DNA proof indicated she was the one who committed the crime.
In the most recent episode, Stu came to the realization that Eliza had no other family members left, with Bridget and his ex-wife possibly going to prison.
Many viewers expressed their predictions for what will happen to his granddaughter on Twitter after watching the episode.
“Stu will permanently take care of his granddaughter Eliza because her mother Bridget is in jail,” Justin Rafferty said.
“Stu is going to get loads of money for being wrongfully convicted, and the girl is now in their permanent care,” Shrimpsy continued.
Stu inherits Eliza, according to Oli Reading of “Corrie”!
“Bridget has been charged with murder,” Ryan Glendenning tweeted. Shame about Eliza, but Stu is getting the justice he deserves.
“I’m predicting a custody storyline for Stu,” Westie continued, “so say he becomes Eliza’s guardian, then Lucy gets out of jail (sentence pending), probably around Christmas, and she’d want Eliza back until Bridgette gets out (2023?) who then turns on Lucy and moves to the cobbles.”
Fans saw Bridget call her father on Monday night to confess that she had pleaded guilty to the crime she had committed all those years earlier.
Stu expressed his worries about parenting an 11-year-old throughout the episode, but Yasmeen was there to reassure him that they could handle it.
Finally, Bridget dialed the home from behind bars because she needed to talk to her daughter.
When Bridget questioned when she would be returning home, her mother was overheard stating that she was about to tell her the whole truth.
