Daisy Midgeley, a resident, was taken aback at the start of the year when her mother Christina Boyd made an unanticipated presence in her life.
After the two grew apart and Daisy (Charlotte Jordan) made the decision to move in with Jenny Connor, she hardly ever spoke about her mother (Sally-Ann Matthews). Daisy was shocked when Christina (Amy Robbins) unexpectedly turned up after learning about her engagement to Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard). Though only a few weeks have passed since Amy made her debut on the ITV soap opera, she recently revealed that she would be departing Coronation Street.
Amy announced her resignation on Instagram and shared a photo of herself hugging Rob and Charlotte, two of her co-stars.
The picture’s description read: “And with that, Christina bids a loving farewell to her cherished, patient Daisy and her adorable, soon-to-be-in-law Daniel.
@rob.mallard @sallyannmathews @charliejordanxo I’ll miss you a lot.
“I want to thank everyone at @coronationstreet for treating me so well. As far as dream occupations go, this one was tough to top.”
Amy’s fans left comments under her picture expressing their shock and sadness at the news.
Charlie Jordan remarked on Twitter: “It happened quickly. Amy, we will miss you. I’m hoping you’ll come back someday.”
Addition from @amandabmwiggins: “Aw, I hope you come back soon x.”
Don’t want you to quit this character, you can go further, wonderful actress, fantastic addition to Corrie, said @dunromin6.
Nicole Dell 125 commented: “You’re just great! I’m hoping you’ll be back on the programme shortly.”
Joked @imogen xo17: “You were amazing, sweetie! Daisy may not agree, but you will be missed on the cobbles.”
“Gone already & Will miss you so much but at least you will be on TV for a bit longer,” screamed @middlesbroughfc138. (sic)
Daisy and Jenny were shocked and incensed when she arrived in Weatherfield because Christina believed Jenny had stolen her husband.
She hasn’t had a completely horrible experience, though, because Daniel intervened and forced Christina and Daisy to have a sincere conversation while sitting down.
Daniel intervened when Christina intended to travel back to Amsterdam because she knew Daisy didn’t want her there or at the wedding.
While Christina was actually waiting for her at the Bistro, he lied that he had planned a date night for the two of them.
Daisy was angry that Daniel had lied to her, but talking things out with her mother and daughter helped everyone and eventually inspired Daisy to invite Christina to their wedding.
Will she depart before witnessing her daughter enter the church?
