On Coronation Street the following week, Tyrone makes the audacious choice to propose to Fiz after deciding that it is time for some stability in the home.
There has recently been unrest at No. 9 due to the publication of a book on Fiz’s (Jenny McAlpine) late husband, serial killer John Stape. Fiz and Tyrone (Alan Halsall) tried their hardest to prevent the publication in order to protect their daughter Hope (Isabella Flanagan), who is mentioned in the book. However, they were unsuccessful.
Hope has made the decision to embrace her legacy by selling signed copies of the book and giving readings at schools in response to her anger over Fiz and Tyone’s shortcomings.
But apparently it’s against the rules to bring a hammer to class and act out the time your father killed one of the teachers, so Hope received a one-week suspension.
Next week, when Hope returns to school, Tyrone and Fiz are required to go to a meeting with the school counselor, who’s questions about Hope’s family and upbringing make for an uncomfortable conversation.
Tyrone decides to make the audacious choice to pop the question to Fiz after deciding that the family needs some stability.
Tyrone, who is ever the romantic, proposes to Fiz while they are riding in Roy’s Rolls.
Alan Halsall explains that Tyrone has already made a proposal to Fiz. But I do believe that everything they have gone through over the past few years has solidified Tyrone’s life goals.
He desires a family life and Fiz as his wife. Tyrone believed he could find happiness elsewhere, but he was mistaken because Fiz is the one who will bring him happiness. As a result, Tyrone no longer wants to be around him and is saying, “Let’s get a ring on it and let’s go!'”
However, the arrival of Rory McDowd (Luke Broughton), the author of the John Stape book that has caused the family so much drama in recent weeks, interrupts their celebrations.
They are shocked when Rory apologizes to them before Tyrone has a chance to slap him again—possibly too little, too late! In order to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands, Rory hands Fiz a jiffy bag filled with papers, tapes, and photos that make up the entirety of his John Stape research.
In order to reduce the likelihood that Hope will find the bag, Fiz asks her brother Chesney (Sam Aston) to hide it in their home. Of course, fate has other plans.
Hope (William Flanagan), who is still fascinated by her father, suggests to Sam (Jude Riordan) and Joseph (William Flanagan) that they hold a séance in an effort to make contact with him.
To make matters worse, Joseph accidentally spills photos of John all over the floor when he opens the cupboard to get some biscuits. Contacting the dead is a hunger-inducing endeavor.
The kids are terrified as they look incredulously at the pictures; it must be a sign from the afterlife!
When Hope’s birthday comes around, Fiz and Tyrone give her a laptop, but she is more interested in finding a cassette player to play the tape that was discovered in the secret cache.
Hope rushes home and begins listening to her father’s tape after later discovering one in the pass-the-parcel at her party.
Going back to the engagement, Fiz isn’t looking forward to the idea of having to make more wedding preparations. Tyrone comes up with a covert strategy after Fiz says she wishes they could skip everything and go straight to their wedding day.
Later, Tyrone reveals to Chesney that he has succeeded in moving their wedding up to Christmas Day as a surprise for Fiz!
It goes without saying that there will be drama at any wedding on Christmas Day in the soap opera world, and Tyrone and Fiz’s big day appears to be no exception.
Despite Tyrone’s efforts to plan everything—from Fiz’s dress to the party location and even telling the kids the secret—there is a minor hiccup when Fiz vanishes, according to teasers that were revealed to us over the weekend.
When the family descends the stairs on Christmas morning to reveal the surprise nuptials, Fiz is nowhere to be found because she has decided that the day is going to be a washout and is unaware of Tyrone’s grand plans.
Whether they actually reach the altar or not, Alan acknowledges that it has been a long time coming.
“Well they have been on and off, but Fiz and Tyrone had their first kiss 21 years ago, which is mind-blowing when you think about it. They’ve been engaged before but things have gone wrong or money has been an issue, or they’ve constantly found problems in their relationship and the timing was never right. It certainly feels like the timing is right this time.”
“It’s nice that throughout all of the years, even though Fiz and Tyrone have been apart and they have been with other people, there has always been something between Tyrone and Fiz,” Alan continues. “It has gone on all these years which is not something you often see on television.”
Tyrone shouldn’t have too much trouble planning a wedding since it will be his third in the past 13 years.
“This one feels right for Tyrone,” Alan says. “Tyrone has been married to Molly, and Tyrone walked down the aisle with Kirsty but didn’t get married. “I hope this is his third time lucky!”
Being first married to John puts Fiz in a similar predicament, but unlike Tyrone, she actually went through with her second marriage to Phill (Jamie Kenna) last year. before disclosing at the afterparty that she had never really loved him.
Alan continues, “Fiz and Tyrone were two young people who had experienced difficult childhoods and difficult family lives, but they had found themselves together, yearning for and wanting this happy family life. “I believe it is appropriate that they finally unite and forge this joyous family life themselves.”
But what are Hope and Ruby’s (Macy Alabi) reactions to the nuptials?
“The kids are a funny one because they just see Tyrone and Fiz as ‘mum’ and ‘dad’ anyway, regardless,” Alan explains. “Hope obviously has her own issues going on so I think they are probably not that bothered but I think they see the funny side, Hope says, “Nobody else has been a flower girl for two different weddings for their mum in six months!” It doesn’t come as any surprise.”
