Viewers of Coronation Street have seen Stephen go to any lengths to make sure his plans to obtain Audrey’s money are carried out. It appears that his plan will finally be realized in upcoming episodes with the aid of his estranged wife.
ITV soap opera viewers watched in horror as Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost) was killed last month when Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) threatened to expose his lies and then threw him over the edge of a two-story building. The citizens of Weatherfield mistakenly believe Stephen simply left town after disposing of the body. The Canadian businessman launches his final scheme to defraud his mother Audrey knowing that no one will find out why he wants Audrey’s money.
After killing Leo in retaliation for threatening to reveal him to the family, the Coronation Street resident became the newest villain of the ITV soap opera.
He overheard a conversation between Stephen and his estranged ex-partner Gabrielle about how he intended to make up for the money he had stolen from her in the past.
Leo discovered that he was trying to get his mother, Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls), to list her house in order to steal the equity and use it to repay Gabrielle.
However, when he confronted him and said he would explain his plan to the family and then the police, Stephen grew angry and pushed him over the two-story building, where he died.
The residents of Coronation Street assumed the conman had fled to Canada alone after disposing of the body, but scenes slated for broadcast next week may reveal otherwise.
Leo’s father Teddy Thompkins (Grant Burgin) and his partner Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) decide to meet up at the Bistro to discuss finding him as they grow concerned that they haven’t heard from him.
Stephen takes a picture of them together on Leo’s phone that he took after the murder and sends it to Teddy out of concern that they’ll learn the truth.
Stephen poses as the deceased and requests that they not get in touch with him again while claiming that the photo of them both was sent to him by a friend.
To Stephen’s horror, Teddy is not persuaded when he says he’s going to Canada to meet with his son in person.
Later, when Stephen is running out of patience, his ex-wife Gabrielle confronts him and demands the money she is owed.
When his mother gives him her phone and requests that the notifications be turned off because they are driving her crazy, the conman can’t believe his good fortune.
He meets Gabrielle and tells her that he is waiting for the mortgage broker to call Audrey’s phone so that she can pose as her and get the money back.
He tells Gail that it might be time for him to leave now that Audrey is feeling better while trying to plan his exit because he knows there’s a good chance he’ll get equity release money.
When Sam’s mother suggests staying at one of his properties in Canada to see the Northern Lights, it throws a wrench in the plan.
In a panic, Stephen tries to stop their travel plans by persuading Gail that Audrey shouldn’t travel to Canada because the weather will be too severe.
Instead, he suggests that she take a cruise in Norway, and even offers to make all the arrangements to make sure nothing interferes with his plans.
According to an thesuns.info theory, Gail opens a letter the mortgage broker sends to Audrey’s house to confirm the sale of the property.
She asks Audrey why she didn’t talk to her about this before finalizing it after being shocked to see that the contents confirm everything has been approved.
But despite her insistence that she hasn’t spoken to any mortgage brokers, it is obvious that someone is lying.
Will Stephen’s family catch him before he flees with his mother’s money as he plots his quick getaway?
