Future scenes involving Ken Barlow of Coronation Street will surprise him as Martha Fraser, a former love interest, returns to Weatherfield.
Next week’s scenes will put Ken Barlow’s (Bill Roache) rekindled relationship with Wendy Papadopoulos (Roberta Kerr) to the ultimate test. As he must make a significant decision, viewers of the ITV soap opera will see his former lover Martha Fraser (Stephanie Beacham) make a comeback.
Since viewers have seen the long-time resident marry, divorce, have flings with, and have numerous affairs over the years, it is safe to say that Ken’s love life has been anything but simple.
His marriage to Deidre Barlow (Anne Kirkbride), with whom he had numerous affairs, was one of his most notorious and tumultuous unions.
Two of these were Wendy and Martha, who both played a part in the overall disintegration of their first marriage.
Ken has maintained his romantic life since Deidres’s passing in 2015 by rekindling with Wendy, though another love triangle might be imminent.
Ken visits the Community Center with Nigel (Richard Ellis), Mary (Patti Clare), and Ben (Peter Gunn) to practice for the upcoming play in scenes that will air the following week.
While there, Nigel tells Ken that he plans to speak with a friend who is an actress to get her opinion on completely replacing Mary.
Brian, Wendy, and Ken all speak to Mary and kindly suggest that she tone down her performance because they are aware that she would be extremely upset if they brought in a replacement.
Mary, however, is unmoved, so Ken and Brian decide against removing her from the play in favor of asking Nigel’s actress friend to give Mary some coaching advice.
When Ken is shocked to realize who he’s been talking about the entire time, Nigel then introduced his actress friend to the three of them.
For the first time since she left the soap opera 13 years ago, he is startled to see his ex-lover Martha standing in front of him.
How will Ken and Martha respond when they finally cross paths after such a long absence?
According to an thesuns.info theory, Ken greets Martha and gives her an awkward embrace as the others notice an awkward tension.
Knowing how he once felt about her, it’s possible that old feelings will resurface as Ken faces a decision.
In yet another love triangle, Ken must choose between going back to his old ways and Wendy or staying true to her.
Regarding Stephanie’s return to Coronation Street, a source told MailOnline that the soap star felt she still owed Martha something.
They said: “Her appearance in Weatherfield will cause a big stir, particularly for Ken. She is thrilled to be returning.
“Fans can expect some compelling storylines. She hasn’t appeared on the soap in a while, but many of the characters haven’t forgotten about her.
Trouble is on the way for Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Hansell) and Fiz Brown (Jennie McAlpine) in another scene from the soap as Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) turns violent.
Hope steals a hammer from the toolbox and brings it to school as the tell-all book of her murderous father is being flogged for money in secret.
After telling two older girls she was performing a special reading of the book, she overheard them calling her a nut job and slyly moved towards them with the hammer.
Will the young girl continue on her father’s sinister and murderous path?
