In upcoming Coronation Street episodes, when Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) learns about Summer’s (Harriet Bibby) intentions to serve as Mike and Esther’s surrogate, he has a lot on his mind (Vanessa Hehir).
After losing the baby she was expecting and intended to give the couple for adoption, Summer comes up with the plan.
The news that Summer had lied to them by keeping them in the dark about the miscarriage while still accepting the money they offered her outraged Mike and Esther.
When the truth was revealed, Summer vowed to repay the couple in full for everything she owed them. Summer and Aaron (James Craven) needed the money to pay for Aaron’s dad to enter rehab.
Summer made the decision to reconsider their suggestion that she serve as a proxy for them after Mike and Esther’s attitude toward her softened as a result of this.
Billy is not entirely on board with this plan, despite telling Summer that he will support her, as the above clip from Friday, December 30’s episode of the ITV soap opera demonstrates.
Paul (Peter Ash), to whom he confides, learns of his opinion that surrogacy is “madness.” Billy agrees to play along, which surprises Paul, who then inquires as to how long he intends to do so.
He is informed by a worried Billy that “I’m not feeling great about this.”
And what would He think? Paul declares while pointing up.
He is correct; Billy does face a moral conundrum, but for the time being, he is most concerned with maintaining his relationship with Summer, so he will have to continue to act as though he supports her plan to use surrogates.
