As her son Stephen Reid grows desperate for money, Coronation Street icon Audrey Roberts’ life may be in danger.
Audrey, portrayed by Sue Nicholls on Coronation Street, is unaware that her son Stephen, played by Todd Boyce, has plans to flee with all of Audrey’s money. Stephen has been planning to flee and abandon his family with nothing for the past few months. Official spoilers, however, indicate that his world and plans start to spiral out of control and that he may lose more than just money in the process.
Stephen will be seen in later scenes being delighted when he receives an email inviting him to an interview for some consulting work.
Stephen participates in a video call interview with Drake because he’s interested in the position and is always trying to earn more money, but it doesn’t go well.
Stephen, who is having trouble finding work, answers a call from the agency and learns they are offering him a position as a delivery driver for fast food.
He accepts it out of desperation, but his first job is at the hip ad agency where he meets Drake.
Drake found it incredibly funny that Stephen was made to take such a menial job after realizing who he was.
Stephen calls the fast food delivery service and announces his resignation, telling them to shove their job, feeling humiliated and embarrassed by the encounter.
Later, Stephen claims that Audrey is drinking once more and advises Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) against taking Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) on a cruise.
But Nick is adamant that the holiday must and will happen, leaving Stephen unsure of what to do next.
Stephen calls the salon while appearing to be a thoughtful son, but he actually ends up stealing Audrey’s antidepressants from her bag.
In order to discuss the cruise, Stephen invites Nick to ride along with him and Audrey in the Rovers.
In order to spike her drink, he crushes the antidepressants into a powder while holding them.
Will he follow through as she stands up to use the restroom?
Stephen answers a call from his wife Gabrielle Reid (Helene Maksoud), who informs him that his car lease has been canceled.
Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) requests a lift into the factory for a meeting as the walls are closing in on Stephen.
Will he be compelled to endanger Audrey?
Stephen calls Six Fellas, the fast food chain, in a desperate attempt to get his job back.
He rushes off, unaware he dropped his phone, telling Gail Platt (Helen Worth) that the call is about a business meeting.
The Bolton boss reluctantly reinstates Stephen, but he is then hassled by youths who take his delivery box, work phone, and demand money.
Stephen attempts to flee on his moped as Elaine Jones (Paula Wilcox) approaches but in his haste loses control and flies across the road.
Will he be taken to hospital, with his plans spiralling further out of control?
