Even though Ken Barlow has lived on Coronation Street the longest, drama still occasionally arises in his life. According to official soap opera spoilers, Ken’s ex-girlfriend will visit Weatherfield and cause some trouble for the well-known figure.
Next month, when Martha Frazer (Stephanie Beacham) returns to his life on her canal barge, Coronation Street legend Ken (played by William Roache) will find himself in serious trouble. The character hasn’t appeared on the ITV soap since 2009 due to a relationship with Ken, but her return is sure to cause problems for the patriarch of the Barlow family, who is already engaged in rekindling an old romance.
According to Coronation Street executives, Stephanie will play the same part again when Martha makes a comeback in November.
Infidelity with Martha nearly caused Ken to sever his marriage to Deirdre Barlow, who passed away (Anne Kirkbride).
The coveted Ken has only recently begun to rekindle an old romance with his ex-girlfriend Wendy Popadopulous (Roberta Kerr), who has also just recently returned to his life.
Despite his developing feelings for Wendy, it doesn’t take long for the exotic allure of actress Martha to turn his head once more.
The elderly man finds himself in a love triangle once more, but who will win his heart permanently?
William, an actor, explained: “When Wendy re-entered Ken’s life, I was overjoyed.
“I adore how the authors drew from Ken’s extensive life history to create these tales.
I was overjoyed to learn that Martha would also be making a comeback, but I worry that Ken may soon experience heartbreak once more now that he has become embroiled in yet another love triangle.
Added Stephanie Beacham “I’m happy to see Martha back in Weatherfield. Working with Bill once more is a complete joy.”
After Ken’s dog fell into a canal and Martha offered her fishing net to save him, they first became acquainted.
They quickly became good friends and realized they shared a love of literature.
After learning that he was married to Deidre, Martha later told him to leave.
Despite this, the pair later got back together, and just before Ken was about to leave Deirdre, he decided otherwise.
Will Ken be tempted to leave Wendy by Martha now? Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford), his daughter, is already furious with him for going back to Wendy.
In 1989, after his affair with Wendy, Ken and Deirdre got divorced.
They eventually got back together, but Tracy never forgot the woman who had caused her parents’ divorce.
Tracy tried to persuade her father to avoid Wendy when she reemerged in Ken’s life earlier this year by making him feel guilty for losing her mother.
Will Ken resume his former behavior and have an affair with Martha now that two of his ex-girlfriends are back?
With his antics, he might even further alienate Tracy and his family.
Who will Ken eventually date? Will he ultimately sever ties with the rest of his family as well?
Since Martha’s return is scheduled for November 23, the love triangle could result in a dramatic Christmas Day storyline.
