Glenda Shuttleworth from Coronation Street is about to relive her past when a familiar face appears in Weatherfield.
Ruthie Henshall, an award-winning actress, is leaving the West End for a brief appearance on Coronation Street. On April 3, she will arrive in Weatherfield to begin filming for her role as Estelle, a longtime friend of Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger). She described it as one of the most “enjoyable” roles of her career.
A confrontation between Estelle and George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) over the price of her mother’s funeral will occur in upcoming scenes.
The argument is put aside, though, when she runs into Glenda and the two start talking about their time spent together on cruise ships.
After catching up, Estelle tries to persuade her to invest in Little Big Shotz, her theater school chain.
But how will Eileen respond if George offers to provide financial support for his sister?
Could she plan on George rubbing Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Clever) the wrong way?
In response to landing the part, Estelle recently stated: “This is one of the most enjoyable guest roles of my career.
“Everyone is so friendly, and I can’t believe that after years of having the street in my life, I now get to walk on the cobblestones.
“It was a pleasure to work with Jodie, and the entire cast was warm and friendly.
“Estelle is overjoyed to run into her old friend Glenda and sing a few show tunes to reminisce about her time spent performing on cruise ships.
“I’m giddy with excitement and joy to be on the same street as so many talented actors who currently and in the past have displayed their talents.
After a fight with her sous chef boyfriend, Glenda returned to Weatherfield in August 2022 and reconnected with George.
She currently works for The Rovers alongside Sean Tully, Daisy Midgeley, and Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) (Anthony Cotton).
Glenda, who recently became involved with Beth Tinker (Lisa George), reconnected on Facebook with her ex-boyfriend from the past.
When Kirk Sutherland (Andrew Whyment) discovered a letter from Marco from their earlier dating days, he was indignant that she had kept it.
She turned to Glenda (Jodie Prenger), who was more than willing to listen, for support after feeling devastated that she had hurt him.
She eventually ended up showing Glenda, who was listening intently, a picture of Marco from his social media profile.
Glenda, who was impressed, then clarified that, contrary to Beth’s assumption, Marco was actually back in Manchester and not in New Zealand.
From Beth’s phone, Glenda agitated the situation by sending Marco a friend request, which might soon end her friendship with Kirk.
Has Glenda recently become entangled in a developing love triangle?
If Kirk learns Beth has been in touch with an old flame, he will be devastated.
