Spider Nugent from Coronation Street is a covert police officer who is currently attempting to eavesdrop on his fellow eco-warrior “friend” Griff’s questionable activities.
After watching Friday’s episode of Coronation Street, in which the detective attended a “gig” with Griff that turned out to be a gathering place for Griff’s far-right gang, fans of the ITV soap appear to have “worked out” what might happen to the detective. Spider has been attempting to stay on Griff’s good side and pretend he is in agreement with him because of the investigation into the group, but could it be that he is putting himself in a very dangerous situation? He has been cautioned to “be very careful” by viewers who appear to believe this.
After receiving an invitation from Griff, Peter Barlow (played by Chris Gascoyne) decided to attend the gathering (Michael Condron).
He was enraged to learn that he was attending something he had no idea about.
Peter was disgusted by some of the messages the group was trying to spread, but Spider (Martin Hancock), who was in charge of the investigation, was forced to downplay it.
You heard what they were singing, right? Peter enquired as he and Spider left the area. You heard the lyrics, right?
To be honest, I wasn’t listening, Spider admitted.
Griff attempted to persuade the two to enter after he discovered them outside.
He had determined that Peter would be a good addition to his agenda and had presummated that he would share their viewpoint.
Peter yelled angrily, “The band is racist, and they all sang along.
Peter questioned Griff as he attempted to defend the group, “Are you telling me you didn’t notice?”
Griff argued, “I’m saying you’re overreacting. Spider made an effort to dismiss the accusations while away from Peter.
He said to Griff, “He’s looking for something to blame, it might be all the drinking in there, since he’s an ex-alcoholic.”
Griff commanded threateningly, “Don’t let him bail on us now. He’s useful to us.
Later, after Griff threatened to call the police, Peter and one of his friends nearly got into a fight.
Peter had noticed the attendees were raising money for something, but they wouldn’t say what.
When the two got back to Weatherfield, Spider ended the argument. Peter then told Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) why they had left, despite the officer’s repeated attempts to refute him.
He explained to Toyah that Peter had misunderstood and that his charges were false.
Viewers were worried for the well-liked character, despite the fact that he probably wants to keep Griff happy so he can learn more about what the group is really up to.
Will he be able to hide his true intentions from Griff and his perilous friends?
@ChurchieBoy1986, a Twitter user, tweeted: “Spider’s in trouble #Corrie.”
When Griff and the gang realize that Spider isn’t on their side but rather is working against them undercover, it will backfire on Spider, said @itzzzo_.
This was echoed by @RyanGSoapKing11, who wrote: “Spider playing with fire. I hope he doesn’t get hurt by this. #Corrie.”
Peter, Spider is attempting to keep you from getting into serious trouble, said @Wee Westie29. Coronation Street / #Corrie

“Griff telling Spider, the undercover cop, you better not be playing me. @itzzzo_ mentioned #Corrie.
Be very cautious Spider, tweeted @RyanGSoapKing11: “#Corrie.” (sic)
Could Spider be seriously in danger? It’s possible that Griff learns the truth about what he’s really doing in the end.
When the sketchy character realizes Spider betrayed his trust, he will probably devise some sort of plan of retaliation.
Could he entice him somewhere and attempt to kill him to prevent him from looking into it further and informing the police?
It’s possible that the recently returned character will depart earlier than anticipated.
