The serial drama’s viewers have “predicted” how Bernie Winter, who was framed on Wednesday’s episode, avoids going to jail.
During the most recent Coronation Street episode, Jane Hazelgrove’s Bernie Winter (who played the character) was completely screwed. Thanks to her dishonest doppelganger Fern, she found herself facing burglary charges and was arrested (Gabrielle Glaister). Fans, however, are confident they have figured out how Bernie avoids a protracted prison sentence.
When Bernie and Fern received the wrong order at a posh clothing store, they realized they shared a similar appearance.
Later, Fern suggested that as a cunning way to make some money, she could pretend to be Bernie at her speed awareness course.
Bernie attempted to resist the urge, but since she frequently lacks money, she ultimately decided to accept Fern’s offer.
On Wednesday’s episode of the ITV soap opera, Bernie got into trouble with the law due to their similar appearances.
Fern was left by herself in the jewelry store, completely covered in Bernie’s attire.
Then, after taking off her Bernie outfit, she made the decision to rob the store blind and left through the back door.
Later, a policeman approached Bernie and detained her on theft suspicion.
She was perplexed, and a police officer showed her the CCTV footage of her robbing the jewelers during her interview there.
Bernie soon realized she had been falsely accused by her lookalike, which horrified her.
The policeman, however, did not appear to believe her account and informed Bernie that the woman in the video undoubtedly resembled her.
It’s my doppelganger, a woman who resembles me, Bernie said.
What, like Invasion of the Body Snatchers? the officer scoffed.
“Yes, but obviously without the aliens. That is Fern, a woman who resembles me.”
Bernie yelled at the officer that she had been set up and that it was actually her that she had been waiting for at home.
Many viewers of Coronation Street posted on Twitter about how they think Bernie will avoid going to jail.
Commentary from Jamie Pragnell: “The triangulation of Bernie’s mobile phone location would establish her innocence. #corrie.”
Krissy continued: “Where is the video of the entire day—not just the robbery—as well? #Corrie.”
“#Corrie so the CCTV didn’t kick in until she put her hood up,” wrote Chloe.
Lisa said: “The CCTV is not grainy and is as clear as day. Did the computer even watch the entire recording? If she believes that’s Bernie, she might need to get her eyes checked, #Corrie.”
Georgia stated: “Bernie’s statement is supported by numerous witnesses.”
As Bobby said: “Bernie won’t be present when police dust is examined for fingerprints because of #Corrie. You’d assume she would keep her gloves on after leaving the jewelers.”
