Fans of Coronation Street are adamant that legendary Audrey Roberts is aware of her son Stephen Reid’s activities in secret and has a scheme to catch him out once and for all.
Audrey, a stalwart character on Coronation Street, is thrilled that her son Stephen, played by Todd Boyce, stopped by for a visit. She had no idea, though, that he had a cunning plan up his sleeve in which he intended to steal all of her money and leave the country. Stephen recently murdered Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost) in order to keep his secret from being discovered.Fans appear to have believed that Audrey knows what she is doing and has a cunning plan to set Stephen up despite the fact that Stephen finally managed to get his hands on Audrey’s money in tonight’s episode.
Tonight, Audrey and Stephen walked into the cafe where Sam Blakeman and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price and Jude Riordan) were having breakfast together.
In typical Audrey fashion, Stephen offered to take Audrey’s phone and “fix” it after she complained that it kept going off.
He took off with her phone after persuading Audrey to let Sam accompany her on a daytime excursion and asked Gabrielle Reid (Helene Maksoud) to meet him.
Thrilled, he informed her: “Are you serious? The universe is telling me this is the best plan ever because my mother gave me her phone. It’s time to practice your acting!”
She asked in confusion, “What do you mean?” Well, when the mortgage broker calls, you have to be Mrs. Audrey Roberts, he said before continuing.
Before Stephen grabbed her arm and said, “Really? “, she exclaimed, “No way!” Because, come on, if I don’t get her money, you won’t get your money.
When the broker finally called, the two sat in the car and patiently awaited it, Gabrielle putting on a fake accent.
Stephen announced his success later in the bar and stated: “The equity release money has just arrived in my account.
He boasted, “I am now sending you £200,000 and I still have a few thousand left for me,” Gabrielle then teased, “So what are you going to do with your ill-gotten gains?”
“Get out of here as fast as you can. No one will be aware of this until after her passing, at which point the family will likely try to sell the house and I won’t be in this country “He clarified.
Later, while the Platt family is eating lunch together at the Bistro, Audrey says she’s going to sell her house to raise some cash so she can take Sam to see the Northern Lights.
Stephen begged, fearful of being exposed: “Release of equity? This is such a terrible idea, mom! I don’t care, but you will only receive a portion of the house’s true value, and when you pass away, these people will inherit it.”
She shut down Stephen, insisting that it was her money and that she could do whatever she wanted with it, but she was adamant about her choice.
When Stephen called Gabrielle again, he was in a panic and said, “Mum, can you believe it, decided out of the blue to release equity from Grassmere Drive.”
You’re screwed if she does, Gabrielle said, not helping the situation. Stephen responded, “I know! She has made the decision to embark on the life of her dreams with Sam.
“I am aware of the risks; you must assist me! I’m a mess, and I have no idea what to do! She will be devastated if she learns what I did and discovers that her golden boy is a thief.
She rebuffed Stephen, insisting that it was her money and that she was free to do what she pleased, but she was adamant in her choice.
Stephen panicked and dialed Gabrielle’s number once more, saying, “Mum, decided out of the blue to release equity from Grassmere Drive, can you believe it?”
It didn’t help when Gabrielle said, “You’re screwed if she does,” to which Stephen replied, “I know! She’s made the decision to start living the dream by taking Sam on a cruise.
“I know what is at stake, so please assist me! My situation is a mess, and I have no idea what to do! She will suffer a heartbreak if she learns what I did and realizes that her golden boy is actually a thief.
Many viewers of the most recent episode believed Audrey had her own scheme to catch her son in the act.
Speculation from @pam debeauvoir “I’m more certain than ever that Audrey has a card to play. Stephen won’t expect such a big surprise, though. She had a reason for giving him her phone. #Corrie He’s walked right into her trap!”
Added Andrew McBride: “Only in soap opera land could Audrey decide to release the equity in her home on the same day that Stephen did it, or did she do it on purpose? #Corrie.”
Marion Whilock said this: “I’ll eat my hat if Audrey was actually playing Stephen the entire time! That will be the most satisfying plot turn to result from this narrative.”
In response, Tony Andersons “I had the same thought! What if Audrey is aware of Stephen’s motivations already? Giving her phone to Shona in that way when she could fix it seems strange.”
“Stephen #Corrie is under pressure,” Ryan Glendenning chuckled.
