Fans of Coronation Street believe the couple who paid Summer Spellman £10,000 to give birth to their unborn child could be very dangerous.
On Wednesday’s episode of Coronation Street, Harriet Bibby’s character Summer Spellman met Mike and Esther at a private hospital and agreed to let them adopt her child. Many viewers believe they are not being sincere about the adoption, despite Mike’s assurances to the teenager that he would give her all the financial and emotional support she needs with his wife.
Mike and Esther welcomed Summer while she was in the hospital with open arms.
Esther exclaimed, “Summer, thanks for letting us take care of this for you. We are a couple of eager beans, so we wanted to go private.
You’re a wonderful woman, Summer, a true angel.
“What you are doing for us, well, you are answering every one of our prayers,” Mike continued.
Esther placed her hands on the teen’s stomach as Summer explained to them all why she had decided to give her baby away.
Esther said, “We are going to be the best parents to this baby. Summer was looking worried.”
Later, Summer expressed her desire for the child to have the best parents possible, but she acknowledged that this would not be simple.
Before asking the couple for £10,000 to cover the cost of Aaron’s dad’s rehab, Mike advised Summer to keep her pregnancy a secret.
Summer later admitted to Aaron that she had not had an abortion after the couple agreed to send her the money.
“They gave me £10,000 just like that,” she said to a bewildered Aaron Sanford (Peter Ash), “which can pay for your dad’s rehab.”
The baby’s father, Aaron, told her that the situation “didn’t feel right,” and he appeared uneasy about “selling” their child to a couple.
Aaron eventually consented to meet with Mike and Esther, but will he attempt to discourage Summer from giving them their child?
Many viewers deemed them “creepy” as they flocked to Twitter to share their theories about the couple willing to buy Summer’s baby.
Eileen wrote: “What are the chances that a childless couple will suddenly appear when Summer discovers she is expecting and has a baby for sale? #Corrie”
“This couple are obsessed and creepy #Corrie,” said Michelle Jones.
Pam also said “Summer needs to be more logical. Her actions will cause her head to swell up. Even her diabetes is beyond her control. It is simply stupid to have a child for a couple who are too strange and intrusive. She is not accountable for Aaron’s father, #Corrie.”
“This goody-goody couple who are Summer’s new bezzies are probably Satanists who use her baby as a sacrifice,” suggested St. Mick in reference to “Corrie.”

“I think Esther and her man are shady,” Jehan continued, “and I don’t understand why Summer thinks they make a great couple when she doesn’t know them. #Corrie.”
