Carla Connor has been LSD-addled for the past few weeks by Coronation Street serial killer Stephen Reid.
After Carla (Alison King) repeatedly made him look bad in front of important clients, Stephen (Todd Boyce) decided to take over the Underworld factory and get rid of her. In order to convince her that her psychosis had returned and she was no longer qualified to lead the company, he drugged her. She eventually turned the reins over to him and Sarah Barlow (Tina O’Brien). But on Wednesday night, viewers of the ITV soap were incensed and pleaded for the plot to end after noticing an odd mistake.
Carla was advised to take it easy after seeing Dr. Gaddas (Christine Mackie), who also gave her a prescription for diazepam to lessen the severity of her spells.
Carla insisted on going back to work because the team had a crucial meeting with an American business where they hoped to grow their brand.
Carla sat them down and started to insult Stephen once more, saying: “We apologize for the delay this morning.
“He is the new kid; he is like a glorified employee. Having said that, you must admit that the other day he served Dick Havisham a fantastic cup of coffee.
“He really has the knack, and it’s his go-to move. He is extremely talented and can make tea as well. Yes, proceed, biscuits.”
Furious, Stephen spiked her cup with LSD once more as he left the office, but this time he increased the dosage.
By the end of the meeting, Carla was out of it and even asked the clients what they were doing in the factory. Fortunately, she had made it through.
She started to freak out that everyone was talking about her as she stumbled out of the office and eventually yelled at them to leave her alone.
Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne), who was working at Street Cars, was alerted by Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) that Carla had changed her course.
Peter was worried that she was getting worse after bringing her home and wanted to take her to the hospital, but Stephen once more succeeded in convincing him to reconsider.
The soap opera’s viewers were incensed by the plot and pointed out that people should have begun to realize that it only occurred when Stephen made her a drink.
Twitter user @Drmalrob062 raged: “#coronationstreet Therefore, nobody seems to notice that whenever Stephen makes #CARLA a tea, she becomes waffy.”
Michelle Walker said: “How come no one has clicked on the fact that Carla only loses her mind when Stephen gives her a drink? Coronation Street and #Corrie.”
mollylp26 enquired: “Why has Sarah not noticed that it always occurs after Carla drinks some tea? #coronationstreet.”
Added by @immayo1: “Carla might find it strange if she only experiences hallucinations at work. And if feeling unwell, wouldn’t a doctor order a blood test? #coronationstreet.”
“Stephen makes my skin crawl,” Eleanor exclaimed, “but literally everyone else on the street seems to have temporarily lost their sight to not see the absurdity of this situation #corrie #coronationstreet.”
Wow, some random person can see what Stephen is up to just from what he saw across the street, commented @Jamal06122771.
And Coronation Street residents, who see this toe rag every day, are blind to what he is doing. Coronation Street, #corrie (sic)
@Minzi expressed: “#coronationstreet I beg you, please stop this Stephen story!!” (sic)
