EXCLUSIVE: Coronation Street viewers will soon witness Daisy Midgeley’s ideal wedding day devolve into a nightmare.
ITV viewers have been following bartender Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), who is being stalked by Justin Rutherford, as she plans her wedding to Daniel Osborne (Rob Mallard), for the past few months (Andrew Still) Actress Charlotte Jordan revealed everything goes horribly wrong on the big day in an interview with Express.co.uk.
The bride-to-be hasn’t had it easy because she has to constantly look over her shoulder out of fear that Justin, her stalker, is nearby.
After repeatedly sending her flowers and messages, he intensified his efforts to reach her by working as a delivery driver to learn her address and by stalking her to a wedding fair.
Daisy and Daniel made the decision to act and devised a plan to get Justin away from them despite the fact that the police had been ineffective in dealing with her situation.
Daisy called him a freak on purpose to provoke a response, and when Justin lunged at her as a result, Officer Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) had to arrest him.
Daisy can concentrate on planning her wedding now that her stalker is in police custody, though actress Charlotte teased it all goes south in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk.
Daisy tries to brush it off after her mother Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) told her daughter at the hen party that all Midgeley women are cursed and don’t have happy weddings.
She wakes up with a red eye, so her mother may have been correct, Charlotte said.
“The wedding car is stolen, the cake has the wrong name on it, and the dress doesn’t quite fit right. Therefore, everything that could go wrong does.
According to official spoilers, Justin decides to cruelly attack the future bride with acid just before she walks down the aisle.
When Daisy is about to leave The Rovers for the final time as Miss Midgeley before getting married to Daniel, the sinister act of retaliation is about to take place.
After her string of misfortunes and with Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) filling in as the wedding chauffeur, the two are horrified to see Justin lurking in the pub’s shadows.
Justin moves toward Daisy while holding a glass filled with a clear liquid and hurls acid her way.
Coronation Street has collaborated with The Katie Piper Foundation and Acid Survivors Trust International in order to prepare for the traumatic storyline (ASTI).
The ITV soap chose to tell this tale in order to demonstrate the devastating effects and enduring consequences of such heinous attacks.
Producer of Coronation Street Iain MacLeod said this about how they approached this plot: “We were keen to show the long-term reality for people who are subjected to this kind of attack. We may frequently read about it in the news, but we might not fully comprehend the breadth and variety of effects it can have.
“In addition to the medical effects, we also look at the social repercussions of having a significant change in your appearance, including how you will cope with it and how others will perceive you.
Although at times heartbreaking, we felt it was important to tell this story.
