Before 2023, there will be some explosive storylines on Coronation Street that will cause trouble for some well-known families.
The year 2022 for Coronation Street was incredible, tackling some significant storylines and featuring some exciting stunts. In the upcoming months, Max Turner’s (Paddy Beaver) grooming storyline will come to an end, and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) will be in more danger due to her surrogacy storyline. Iain McLeod, the head of Coronation Street, has hinted at what else Weatherfield residents can expect later this year.
Damon Hay and Harvey Gaskell showdown
Recently, Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) surprised his son Jacob Hay by charging onto the Cobbles (Jack James Ryan).
He may have good intentions, but Iain McLeod has hinted that Damon and his crooked brother Harvey Gaskell will face off in a confrontation (Will Mellor).
It’s challenging to incorporate fictional characters who are in jail into your show when they are actually in jail somewhere, he said.
But in the past, we’ve overcome challenges that were more challenging. I hope that one day we can put Harvey in a room with Damon after getting him out on the street.
“By the time he got out, Damon and Harvey would be absolute blood enemies, so the When Harvey versus Damon’s is involved and the future is somewhat enticing.
Hope Stape to form an unhealthy interest in father John Stape
Isabella Flanagan’s character, Hope Stape, recently stole the book about her father and sold copies to her classmates.
She intends to learn more about her father’s past, though, and develop a “unhealthy obsession” with his crimes.
Iain ribbed: “Even after the wedding, she continues to go by her late father’s name for a while, and she does begin to miss him.
“She had some tainted information, didn’t know a lot about John Stape (Graeme Hawley), and she grows an increasingly poisonous curiosity about her father, which takes her into some pretty interesting, darkly comedic territory.
“She becomes sort of slightly obsessed with John in a way that causes problems with the entire family, as they thought they left their troubles behind them.
“But of course, it was apparent that troubles have never entirely behind due to this difficulty parenting.”
Stephen Reid causes more terror around the cobbles
Fortunately, Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) avoided detection for killing Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost) and defrauding his mother Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls).
His life is about to become even more chaotic as a result of recent issues he has had with Teddy Thompkins (Grant Burgin).
Teddy, Leo’s father, has a strong suspicion of Stephen and believes he may be involved in Leo’s disappearance, the boss said. Teddy puts Stephen in some serious danger.
And of course, we are all aware of what Stephen did the last time he was in a tight spot, so the real question is: How far will he go to deal with this new threat?
Romance on the horizon for Todd, Paul and Billy
Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank), Paul Foreman (Peter Ash), and Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) have been watching out for their adopted daughter Summer over the past few months.
But in upcoming scenes, two of the trio are expected to start dating, and Iain will leave it up to the fans to guess who it might be.
I’ll let you make an educated guess as to which of them it might be. I am aware that historically, people who identify as either team Todd and Billy or team Tilly have experienced very strong emotions.
The other side of the debate is represented by Paul and Billy, with whom I have been debating since Paul joined the show.
We chose a team, but the story will actually center on three of them, regardless of whether the team consists of two of them or more. That dynamic is fantastic. It feels wholly distinctive.
Young cast set to undergo huge storyline
A new Weatherfield precinct that will serve as the focal point of a long-term storyline for the ITV soap’s younger cast was unveiled at the end of the year.
Iain teased about the incidents: “We still have a fantastic cast of young actors. They are at the center of a compelling narrative that is both highly relatable and distinctly teenage.
“We’re hoping it will be the kind of tale that makes people a little uncomfortable and starts awkward TV-watching conversations.
“It makes me happy. For the most part, it just comes down to those brilliant young actors being the superstars they are and then reaching out to the wider community through people who are connected to them. We’re working with charities to make sure we get the details right.”
Carla Barlow’s mental health in danger after Stephen showdown
Since Carla Barlow (Alison King) has ruled the underworld for a considerable amount of time, her subjects have learned to respect her judgment and refrain from challenging it.
But as Stephen puts pressure on her company, Carla might experience a relapse in her mental health.
Iain said, “Peter’s role in that is basically being very worried about his wife’s history of mental health issues.
“Stephen sees his first step back up the ladder to the top of the world’s trade, getting the job, and Underworld.
“He attempts to unseat Carla, who is currently the pile’s Queen. Therefore, a really good psychological battle breaks out between the two, and it’s all loaded, of course.
