Bob’s big mistake as Cathy hides a secret in Emmerdale spoiler video

As Cathy Hope’s (Gabrielle Dowling) new storyline gets underway in Emmerdale, she’s set to struggle to express how she’s feeling to her dad, Bob (Tony Audenshaw).

The plot itself began to play out in the pre-Christmas episodes around the carol concert, when Cathy was shown to be moody all day and prone to spells of anxiety and depression. She told her brother that she would occasionally feel overwhelmed, but then things righted themselves again.

Ultimately, the story is about how Cathy copes with her heavy periods. Already this week we saw Bernice (Samantha Giles) attempt to help the teen with her revision, but when Cathy made a hurtful comment about Bernice’s menopause, she was left upset and offended, which caused Bob to angrily confront his daughter, wondering why her behaviour was constantly changing.

Experiencing a state of rage, Cathy smashed Heath’s (Sebastian Dowling) guitar on the floor.

In yesterday’s episode, Cathy started opening up to Bernice about her mood swings, revealing that she missed her exam because she had experienced a really heavy period.

Supported by Bernice, Cathy hoped she’d be able to talk to Bob but as this new video shows, it looks like he may have other priorities.

As Bernice and Bob discuss the money challenges that come with attempting to buy the B&B from Eric (Chris Chittell), they spot Cathy and Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) leaving the café.

Bob and Bernice both wish Cathy good luck in her upcoming exam and as she heads off, neither make any comment about the young girl’s recent struggles.

Will Bob assume that Cathy will now be back to how she was prior to the mood changes?
