In the wake of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, some adjustments were made to the soaps’ regular broadcast schedules.
After an incredible 70 years in power, Her Majesty passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 8 at the age of 96.
When it was revealed that there were health concerns regarding her on the day in question, the BBC halted its regularly scheduled programming at noon.
Before the 6.30 p.m. announcement that The Queen had passed away, coverage of the event continued all day on BBC One and ITV.
Following the monarch’s passing, TV schedules underwent significant change, with shows like EastEnders and Emmerdale being canceled.
The following Friday (September 9) on BBC Two, EastEnders would air its missed Thursday episode; however, Emmerdale and Coronation Street did not air for the remainder of that week.
The hour-long Thursday episode of Emmerdale was then broadcast on Sunday (September 11), but a new episode of Coronation Street has not yet been released.
TV schedules are currently rife with uncertainty, and since broadcasters appear to only occasionally announce their plans, expect more adjustments.
Are our favorite soap operas returning to television tonight?
Is Coronation Street on tonight and what time?
On Monday, September 12 at 8 p.m., a new episode of Coronation Street will air.
It will instead be the episode from the previous Friday, not the ITV soap opera outing that had been previously promoted for the aforementioned date.
In the upcoming episode, Spider Nugent (Martin Hancock) will beg Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) to end her friendship with Griff before confessing his love for her and the breakdown of his marriage.
After kissing on the balcony, they decide to wait until after the trial to come out with their relationship. They are unaware that an enraged Saira has spotted them, though.
Is EastEnders on tonight and what time is it on at?
Tonight at 8:30 p.m. on BBC One, there will be a brand-new episode of EastEnders.
The day of Kat Slater and Phil Mitchell’s wedding in Walford arrives, and Kat is taken aback when Big Mo (Laila Morse) shows up!
Kat and Phil are surprised by the market vendors with a party, but Kat’s joy is short-lived when Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) causes her to question her future with Phil.
While Kat soon receives a huge wedding surprise in the form of her ex Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) showing up on her doorstep, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) is on a mission to win Phil back.
Is Emmerdale on tonight?
No, there won’t be a brand-new episode of Emmerdale tonight.
The ITV soap opera’s next episode’s air date is currently unknown, but it is currently two episodes behind due to the cancellation of an hour-long episode that was scheduled to air on Friday.
Since it won’t be on the schedule tonight, it will fall further behind and will now require three half-hour broadcasts to catch up to where it should be.
